Level 2 Is Over
Last week I completed my six week level two course and I graduated along with my class, yay me.
Level 2 grads - me in my usual floor position, holding my certificate.
The past few weeks has been spent finishing off the choreography for our up coming performance night and nailing the level two tricks and spins to get them spot on. Bea has to be one of the most laid back and calm instructors around. Nothing is too much trouble, if you're not comfortable doing something one way she'll help you do it another way that still works. Another nurturing and supportive teacher at our studio.
As is the custom with the six week term ending there will be a Performance Party. This one is open to our peers, and family, and friends. This will be the first time we perform for the public. It's kinda scary and nerve wracking and at the same time really exciting. I haven't performed since I was in my early teens, never as an adult. I'm curious to see if I can pull it off and to see how the audience reacts to me, and if they notice me. Guess it'll just depend on the night and the nerves right!
The theme of the performance night is Summer Lovin'. Our level has decided to wear grass skirts and black tank tops as our themed costume. Its made for some interesting practice times trying to cling to the pole with slippery metallic/plasticky strands making your thighs not grip and you very quickly slide down. Definitely not sexy like at all. Scissors have been drawn and skirts cut to what one of the ladies described as an almost obscenely short length, so long as we can get our legs wrapped about the pole and grip on to it tightly, all is good.
So once again we've all stuck with it and made it through, all that's left is to bring it on the night and enjoy and encourage all the other performers as well.
Can't wait!
